THE monthly Stableford was played in warm sunshine at Yelverton Golf Club and some sparkling scores resulted. Leon Fricker, aged 15, scored 42 points to win division one, with James Holt, aged 18, two points back on 40 points. The following day the positions were reversed when they played in the County Youth championships at Exeter Golf and Country Club, which James won, to take the prestigious Brockman Cup, with Leon taking third place. James also came third overall in the Devon Salver, a 36-hole adult competition, beating county first team member Adam Bridgewater, who was fourth, with Leon Fricker coming sixth. In the Yelverton competition division two was won by Ron Smith with 38 points; Ben Yung won the third division with 41 points, and John Clarke won the fourth Division, after a count back from Andy Field, with 37 points. l A LADIES' Greensome competition was held at Yelverton Golf Club. The winners were Trudi Luke and Angie Holman with 40 points. The runners up were Dawn Bolt and Sue Rumbold with 34. The Yelverton Ladies played Churston Ladies in the Creasy Bowl Competition at Churston. Yelverton halved two matches and lost five, some of these being very close. Yelverton played a Creasy Bowl Match against Saunton at last week and won by 4½ to 2. The May Stableford and Easlick Salver Competition was played last Thursday. The winner in division one was Trudi Luke on 33points with runner up S Pearman on 30. With a magnificent score of 41 points Angie Holman was the winner in division two with the runner up Di Reardon on 38.
