YELVERTON Golf Club's Leon Fricker is the new Devon County Golf Union's amateur championship, which was held at Tavistock Golf Club between May 13-15. Leon beat East Devon GC's David Blick in the matchplay final by two and one.

It was a very productive Devon Amateur Championship for West Devon with Greg Holman from Okehampton Golf Club winning the 'Wish' Slater Salver.

The Gold Medal was won by David Blick (East Devon)  with Yelverton GC's James Smith. East Devon won the Team Championship and will represent Devon in the English Club Tournament in September.

The Cooper Cup (scratch) went to Andrew Place (Staddon Heights) with a 73 and county captain, Neil Holland (Sidmouth), won the President's Trophy.
