THE Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion would like to remind war widows and widowers of the Government-sponsored scheme that enables them to visit the overseas grave or memorial of a spouse. This is the 23rd year of the scheme, which now pays the full cost of a visit to the grave of personnel who died in service between 1914 and 1967. The scheme will now also pay the costs for a carer to travel with a widow/er within the UK. The travel company 'Remembrance Travel', which is recommended by the legion, organises regular trips to many memorials and battlefields for which the government funding can be used.
