PUPILS from year five at St Andrew's Primary School in Buckland Monachorum gathered in Tavistock recently, to take part in a wide range of field studies and curriculum enriching experiences.
The children surveyed the general public about traffic management and retail in the town centre and also undertook traffic surveys throughout the town. They then participated in an act of Remembrance followed by a talk from John Mathis, a member of the Royal British Legion at the Tavy Club, Tavistock.
The children also visited Tavistock Methodist Church where they stopped for lunch and a presentation was given by Peter Mawer, church steward, followed by a visit to Tavistock Parish Church with a presentation from the Rev Michael Brierley. In the afternoon, pupils had a tour of Tavyside Surgery by Dr Harriet Doyle and colleagues, ending their day at Tavistock Police Station.
Thanks were expressed to all the people in Tavistock who supported the children during the daylearning by answering questionnaires, taking part in surveys, providing hospitality and giving such informative talks and presentations.
