THESE Year 11 pupils at Kelly College are to complete a four-day first aid at work course as part of their applied science lessons. The course, run over the half term, provides pupils with a Health and Safety Executive-approved qualification ? this not only adds something to their CV for the future but will also give them important life skills to assist casualties in all sorts of different situations. They will learn about various conditions such as diabetes and epilepsy as well as having practical sessions on bandaging and CPR. The course is being taught by the school?s health and safety officer, Rose Tripp, and swimming pool manager Clare Short. Both qualified to teach first aid three years ago and have since run numerous courses for both the college and external organisations. The pair are also running a course from November 19 to 22 for Kelly College staff and members of the public. It costs £150, which includes all examination and certification fees. If you are interested in attending, contact Clare on 01822 813155 or Rose on 01822 813176.
