A MAN from Tavistock is taking to the skies this month to raise money for a breast cancer charity. Mervyn White will jump 10,000ft from an aeroplane on Sunday, April 27 over Netheravon, Wiltshire, with friend Carol Sewell in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The pair have been friends since they met years ago during their separate honeymoons in the Maldives. Mervyn said his mother had breast cancer five years ago and had to have an operation. He has since wanted to do something for a breast cancer charity. He said: 'Carol chose the charity and I thought it was a good idea to do something for breast cancer. 'I am looking forward to the jump. It is one of those boxes you have to tick in your life — jumping 10,000ft. My target is to raise between £600 and £700.'
