THE Tavistock Tennis Club started play in Plymouth & District League Competitions last week. In the seniors, five mens? teams have been entered, two in division 1 with one each in divisions 3, 5 and 7. In the ladies there are three teams, two in division 2 and the other in division 5. With the juniors (under 18) there are three teams in divisions 1, 2 and 3. Entries for other competitions are the Plymouth Knockout Cup (senior mixed doubles) and Handicap Bowl (seniors). A series of friendly matches are being arranged to take place through the year. Results for Week 1: Seniors:Men?s B team won 6-5 against the A team in divn 1 in a closely contested in-house match. There were good entries for the club winter mixed tournament won by Anne Bruce/Terry Lanchberry and for the opening of season mixed tournament won by Babette Jackson/Chris Hill.
