NEW leaflets aimed at boosting businesses in the Tamar Valley have just been launched by the area?s tourist group.
Tamar Valley Tourism Association (TAVATA) has produced four leaflets, ?Places to visit and things to do?, ?Gardens and Nurseries?, ?Places to Eat? and ?Local Arts and Crafts?. All businesses featured in the leaflets are members of TAVATA, which has increased its membership to 130.
Bob Barrett, Tamar Valley marketing project co-ordinator, said: ?The Valley has so much to offer, but a lot of businesses are hidden away.
?We hope the new leaflets will be of interest to visitors who are discovering the area for the first time and to local people who often only know about businesses in their immediate vicinity.
?We felt this initiative was vital to spread the word about the excellent restaurants, art and craftspeople, gardens and nurseries and tourism attractions within our beautiful valley.?
Since it was set up two years ago, following the foot and mouth crisis, TAVATA has been involved in a number of initiatives to boost industry in the area, including the setting up of a new website, http://www.tamarvalleytourism.co.uk">www.tamarvalleytourism.co.uk and sponsorship of a Wessex Trains railway carriage, the Tamar Kingfisher. The carriage bears images of the Tamar Valley which travel all around the South West region.
