TAVISTOCK golfer Laura Eastwood won her second Ryder Cup Wales 2010 WPGA One-Day Series event with a one-shot victory at Harpenden Common near St Albans. The course was lengthened by 460 yards with the women playing off the yellow and white tees instead of the red but that did not faze the 23-year-old from Tavistock. Laura, playing in the final group, carded a level-par 70 to snatch the win from Knebworth's Joanne Oliver, who had held the clubhouse lead for only 30 minutes. Laura, whose victory took her top of the Ryder Cup Wales 2010 WPGA Order of Merit with one event to go, qualified for the Ladies' European Tour event by winning at St Pierre and to bank another first place just ahead of that was an important confidence boost. 'Four out of my six WPGA One-Day events have been good (she has also had a third at Forest Pines and a fourth at Dunham Forest) and hopefully I can keep up my good form,' she said. 'I'm going to tour qualifying school in October so it will be good for me to see the standard of the girls out there and find out what I need to do.' She is leading the Order of Merit by 1.8 points from Alison Nicholas and by 7.8 points from Suzanne Dickens (who plays on the European Tour). The final event is at Stoke-by-Nayland on September 18.
