WEST COUNTRY comedian Jethro will be putting on an evening show as the grand finale of a big new charity event.

The evening, being held at Jethro's Lewdown club on June 4, will round off the first ever 'Eat the Devon Way' event in support of Children's Hospice South West's Precious Lives Appeal.

'Eat the Devon Way' is the creation of a group of local food producers, aimed at showcasing what the region has to offer while helping local families with life-limited children.

The main event, a fun food festival, will be held at Dingles Fairground on Sunday and Monday May 29 and 30, with Jethro bringing the week of activities to a close the following Saturday.

David Mugridge, co-owner of Yarty Valley Cordials, who is one of the organisers of the festival, said: 'We approached Jethro's Club as we wanted to include them in"Eat the Devon Way" as the club is on the old A30 — "The West Devon Way", which Jethro and Peter Gorton opened.

'Fate played a part, as this year Jethro's Club's chosen charity is Children's Hospice South West's Precious Lives Appeal and they were more than happy to be involved.

'The comedy evening on June 4 will bring a week of events to a grand close with Jethro presenting a cheque from the night, and the money raised by the club from previous nights, to Children's Hospice South West.

'This will be Jethro's penultimate show at his club and we are really thrilled to have him involved with Eat the Devon Way in support of the Precious Lives Appeal.'

Jethro said: 'Everybody is indirectly or directly involved with children.  I could not think of a more worthy charity to support.'

Tickets for Jethro's show at Jethro's Club, Lewdown, from 7.30pm on Saturday June 4, cost £17.50 and are available by calling 01566 783323 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
