Okehampton U15s 12
Teignmouth U15s 22
DUE to a few injuries, Okehampton gave starts to some of their squad players.
The early exchanges were pretty even with Lloyd Heard showing tenacity in the back row. Teignmouth were looking strong and pacey out wide and soon opened the scoring after a spell of pressure. A second try soon followed as a result of some poor tackling, something spectators have not seen from the Okes for a few weeks.
Okehampton still kept their confidence and tried to play an open game but it was forward power that gave them their first score as Chris Courtier showed strong running and Lee Hughes went over from a short penalty.
The Okes levelled the scores with another Hughes try and missed out on chances to go into the lead as both Felix Gardner and Hughes again were held up over the line after great forward play with Courtier again involved. As long as Teignmouth were denied posession Okehampton were in with a chance but the last 10 minutes saw the visitors start to gain control and some slick passing and running gave them two more tries to win the game.

Tavistock RFC U15s 19
TAVISTOCK, eager to over turn an early season 10-46 home drubbing by the Camels, started brightly.
Fluent interchange of passes and a dominant pack put the Camels under pressure. Richie Coker found space with his pace to open up the Wadebridge defence to permit Monty Burdfield to run in and score the opening try; this was superbly converted by Ed Longden.
Tavistock's forward play was excellent, with Zac Cinnamond, Sam Jessop and Ash Toll holding their own against a much heavier front row. Well controlled scrummaging led to Ross Malton at scrum half providing slick delivery to Richie Coker, who opened up the Camel's defence before unselfishly passing to Monty Burdfield, who ran in Tavistock's second try under the posts. A successful conversion followed and allowed the visitors to take a 14-0 half time lead.
The Camels started the second half with determination and they opened their account with a well worked try and conversion. Tavistock spent the third quarter under pressure, but their defence largely held, although the Camels did score another during this phase.
Tavistock were rewarded for some excellent rucking and mauling during the final period when David Lunn's intelligent full back play saw him score a try with virtually the final play of the game to ensure that Tavistock recorded a magnificent victory.

STRAIGHT from the kick-off good passing between Okehampton players resulted in Luke Dennis crossing the line for the first try of the match. Liam Wilkins just missed the conversion. Shortly after full back Deane Andrew collected the ball and made a good run before passing the ball to captain Josh Bush, who crossed the line close to the posts. Wilkins successfully converted.
Moments later, Bush made a weaving run of his own, which saw him cross the line for his second. Again Wilkins converted. Okehampton kept the pressure up, and again, good passing saw the ball move out to the wing, and Alex Arthurs ran three quarters of the way up the pitch before putting the ball down between the posts. Wilkins converted.
Just before half-time, Plymstock crossed the Okes' line in the corner, but were unsuccessful with the conversion.
Okehampton started the second half as strongly as they finished the first, and moments after Plymstock kicked off, Andrew crossed the line for a try of his own. Bush made another good weaving run, before offloading the ball to Jordan Cornthwaite, who crossed the line. The conversion was narrowly missed. Plymstock replied with a try but Okehampton kept the pressure on by winning lineouts, and pushing the Plymstock scrum off the ball on several occasions. The Okes finished the game with a hat-trick of tries for Dean Folland.
Tavistock U14s 19
Wadebridge U14s 5
FROM the start Tavistock seemed the more determined and in an excellent forward drive, Northmore made a break, before laying off the ball for Swash to crash over; Swash then converted.
Straight after the restart, Wadebridge surged forward but a knock on by Wadebridge, deep in the Tavistock half, put pressure on the home side. However the indiscipline by visiting captain Matthew Bowell saw him sin-binned allowing Tavy to relieve their lines.
Within minutes a second Wadebridge player, Bradley Wood, was sin binned for foul play and they were down to 13 men. However, Joe Pretty of Wadebridge took off on a solo run from his own 22, to score a try and bring the visitors back in the game. As the sinned Wadebridge players returned, there was more positional parity in the game and the first half closed 7-5 in Tavistock's favour.
The second half started in the same vein for Tavistock. Following a forward drive by Tavistock the ball came back from Duncan to Swash. The No 10 lofted the ball to the right, where Massey-Birch received the ball and wriggled through a tackle to score. Swash missed the conversion.
At the restart, Wadebridge charged down the field, the ball came out of a ruck to the right, giving Wadebridge a three to one overlap, but Massey-Birch was able to clear. Wadebridge's ill discipline led to the referee sending off their captain. However they continued to drive forwards and only excellent efforts from Langton, Jewson and Coulton stopped them scoring.
Tavistock scored one final try by Newton, after an aggressive run by Langton, setting up a solid forward platform. The ball was quickly moved from the back of the forwards by Bayliss, who passed to Swash, who wrong footed the oncoming Wadebridge defence; he sent the ball off to the oncoming Newton to score an excellent team try.
North Okes U13s 5
Ivybridge U13s 27
IN glorious sunshine the cup match started with a series of four quick tries run in by Ivybridge and one conversion.
Okehampton tried to stem the tide but Ivybridge were much bigger opposition and passed the ball excellently through the backs for a quick flowing game.
Tackles were hard and Okehampton tried to respond with some darting runs but were quickly snarled up in rucks and mauls.
In the second half Okes' fighting spirit showed and a try was run in by Kyler Burns. The Okes then defended ferociously but conceded one more try.

WITH many regular players absent Tavistock put on a respectable display to go down by three tries to one. The visitors took time to settle and were overwhelmed in the early stages by the strong play of the Plymstock forwards and their quick running backs. Despite some brave defence sustained pressure from the home side eventually gave them an early score through their centre. A second try came by way of more driving play from Plymstock's strong pack.
However, the Tavistock team started to play more as a unit, and rallied well to produce some good moves. Centre Charlie Carter and scrum half Adam Williams made breaks, and hooker Zak Brinkhurst showed his strength in the loose.
The visitor's defence also looked more cohesive with Jamie Brown on the wing putting in some good tackles, and Nick Piper and Alex Ferguson displaying real determination in the mauls.
Early in the second half Tavistock's efforts paid off through a fine interception try from Tom Jackman who anticipated a slip pass from the Plymstock backs to sprint through for a fine touchdown in the corner. The match was now much more even. Tavistock looked more dangerous with the ball in hand and pressed for an equalising score. It was in the final minute however that Plymstock's forwards took control again to drive through from a lineout close to the line for their third try. This was a spirited display by Tavistock, who showed great character in running a strong Plymstock side so close.

THIS was a one sided affair with Tavistock fielding a strong squad and Plymstock with some new players. Although they conceded many tries seldom did the home side's heads go down, which was a credit to them. For Tavistock there were strong performances from Finn and Morgan. Bert and Jo couldn't be separated in their ability to convert a try. Jack manfully came back on to play at prop.
Tavistock showed that they are beginning to scrummage with real fire and can now shift play from one side of the pitch to the other, rather than being bundled into touch.

TAVISTOCK fielded a strong team who stamped their mark on the game immediately. Scrum-half George dodged past the Plymstock defence to score the first try. Two tries from Callum and another from Ben brought the first half to an end, with the visitors leading by four tries to nil.
In the second half Tavistock dominanted in both possession and territory. The forwards worked well together winning ball at both lineout and scrum, enabling Josh to power his way over the line to score. The final try came when fly half Laurence sped past several would-be tacklers to score.

TAVISTOCK took an early lead with a try from Rory followed shortly after with another from fellow forward Chris. The Tavistock backs played brilliantly, with some lovely passes down the line from flyhalf Alex to Reuben, on to Dominic and out to Fred on the wing gaining valuable ground.
In the second half, the home team won a hard fought for try, but any hope of equalising was quickly quashed by Tavistock's Johannes weaving run to go over in the corner to score.

TAVISTOCK went into an early lead in the first quarter from an outstanding charge and run from Soul Pengilly making his first ever try. This was followed quickly by one of Al Spicer's two tries. The second quarter saw Ivybridge rally and take three quick tries to be ahead at the half-time. The third quarter was equally matched with two tries each — Ryan Brimacombe ran most of the pitch with a last minute side step to score the fourth try.
The final quarter went all Tavistock's way with outstanding play from Jake Jones, Reuben Noy Scott and Max Wright, who between them set up and scored three more tries.

In the second half Plymstock had regrouped and took two quick tries before Tavistock once again took charge adding two more tries - the final one from an excellent pass by Ben Dunlop to Reuben Noy Scott who ran down the wing to score.
Okehampton U9s 45
South Molton U9s 15
Playing their visitors for the first ever time, the young Okes came a way with a comfortable victory and another hatful of tries. With a good turnout of players the coaches were able to make regular changes and the tactic paid off as the tries came at regular intervals.
Leading the way with three tries apiece were Leon Horne and Gregory Daniel. Also crossing the whitewash were Ollie Ardon, Adam Wonnacott and the ever improving Simon Moody with one score apiece. The whole team's handling continues to improve steadily and apart from a couple of slight lapses, the tackling on the whole was tenacious.

OKEHAMPTON changed their line-up once again but still managed a clear victory. Five tries were scored in total, these were shared between Ollie Ardon, Simon Moody and Leon Horne, along with Ethan Hoggins who bagged a brace after two storming runs.
More strong defence from all the squad ensured their North Devon opponents never crossed for a try of their own.
Plymstock U8s 7 tries
Tavistock 5 U8s 5 tries
TAVISTOCK U8s played two games against a good Plymstock strong squad. Tavistock won the first game by seven tries to five but the second game ended in a draw at three tries all. There was great defending from the Tavistock boys, with Zac and Lachlan both making try saving tags. Forward momentum saw Ollie and Freddie making some great runs through the Plymstock line.
Fine tagging from Saemus, Jason, Luke, Tom, Morgan, Alex and Charlie kept the team strong in defence. Jack produced two fine runs supporting the man with the ball in both cases. Try scorers this week included Lachlan, Joe and town's player of the match Jude White.
