OPMs 1
Tavistock A 2
Having scored ten goals against Bude last week Tavistock A travelled to Plymouth to play OPMs as league leaders on goal difference.
OPMs were never going to be a push-over and the match was fiercely contested from the off.
Tavistock struggled to string play together on a bouncy pitch and OPMs looked the more determined side for the first 10 minutes. The home side took the lead when a cross from an OPM player bounced over Tavistock defenders' sticks and was knocked in against the backboards.
This woke up Tavistock whose passing improved and they started to move the ball away from the left side of the pitch where they were getting bogged down.
Phil Honey looked strong on the right wing and seized an opportunity to run the ball well into OPMs half.
He slid the ball down the line to Jake Doney who drew out the defence before pulling the ball back onto the penalty spot, where Neil Kelly took his chance to equalise.
Tavistock created more chances in the second half, with OPMs only looking dangerous occasionally on the break.
As the half drew to a close Tavistock built up pressure steadily and keeper Neil Bradley, who put together some good saves in the first half, was seldom troubled.
As the last minutes ebbed away the visitors forced a series of three penalty corners and on the third Kevin Lethbridge struck the ball clean and fast into the OPMs' goal. Tavistock held on to the final whistle for a deserved victory.
