Palladium Builders East Cornwall division one Bere Alston United 2 Bude Town 2 AN equaliser in the last minute of added time gave a young Bude side, whose performance belied their league position, a share of the points and put a dent in Bere Alston's title aspirations. With a gale force wind making it difficult for both sides to play flowing football the first half was a pretty dour affair and there were few chances at either end. The best of them, however, fell to Bere Alston, who took a 1-0 lead into the break courtesy of a close range finish from Zac Beesley. Playing into the wind in the second half, Bere were still making the best chances and Dan Follett was denied by a superb save from Bude keeper Matt Warburton who then made another fine stop to prevent Mark Wheeler making it 2-0. Defensively Bere were coping well, when, midway through the half, keeper Craig Howells uncharacteristically fumbled a tame effort from Tom Statton giving Norman Foster the simple chance to make it 1-1. Bere pressed for a winner and appeared to have got it when Ross Hann brought down the ball on the edge of box and smashed a dipping volley into the net off the underside of the crossbar. Then Dave Hallett saw his goal bound effort that would have made the game safe crash against the post. Bere were made to rue those missed chances, when, in the final minute Bude substitute Stevie Box cut inside and hit a low drive through a crowd of players and just inside the near post to make it 2-2. With Tavistock winning at Holsworthy, Bere are now three points behind their rivals. Bere Alston man of match: Dave Hallett. l Bere Alston play on Saturday away to Roche, kick- off 2.30pm.
