A WEST Devon author has once again been named as one of the most-borrowed authors in British libraries.

Tavistock author Lilian Harry has had over a million borrowings of her books for 2011-2012, matching the figures for each year since the mid-1990s.

Her most recent book to be included, Secrets in Burracombe, was the most popular, but this is set to be overtaken by Snowfall in Burracombe, which was published in September, when it enters figures for 1012-13.

Lilian's Burracombe series is proving popular with readers who already love her 'April Grove' series and her other stories, many set during the second world war, including a Song at Twilight featuring Harrowbeer airfield.

The eighth Burracombe book, Weddings in Burracombe, will be published in the summer, and Lilian is now working on the ninth — Celebrations in Burracombe.

Burracombe is a fictional village with many of the features of villages around Tavistock.

The stories are set in the 1950s, when life seemed simpler — yet there were always complications to surmount, with plenty of local colour and the kind of characters who might still be recognisable today.

Lilian Harry's books are available in all bookshops, but she is especially pleased to have so many loyal followers in libraries.
