Tavistock Ladies first 1 Plymouth and Marjons seconds 1 THIS was going to be a tough match for Tavistock as they were playing a team who were sat near the top of the league. The match opened with both teams looking to gain early possession of the ball when they could. Tavistock were the attacking team and had the ball in the opposition's 'D' on numerous occasions but could not get it past the excellent away goalkeeper. Jo Gaspar for Tavistock battled well in the 'D' and took some strong strikes at the keeper. Sarah Barratt and Chloe Bassett for the home side worked hard in midfield and made some good passes out to Laura Armstrong on the wing and it was not long before the ball was back in the 'D'. Whenever a break did occur from the opposition, the strong play of Laura Stapleton and Lisa Butler held off the attack. The defence from Susannah Boulle and Fiona Dunn held strong at the back and the pair resisted the temptation to move up the pitch as Plymouth were very quick on the break of the ball. Becky Lamb returned to the side and she made some really good runs up the pitch. The half-time whistle went and the score line was still 0-0. Tavistock knew that they should have been more goals up as they had had far more attacks than the opposition. The second-half was basically a mirror image of the first 35 minutes. Dunn had some good drives up the pitch and despite linking with Gaspar and Lamb for Tavistock the ball was constantly being intercepted. Judy Miller worked hard in the second-half and made some good jab tackles and really ran well up front creating space and outwitting the defence. The opposition put a hard shot past goalkeeper Zoe Viggers. with only four minutes left of the match. Tavistock continued to work hard and with less than two minutes left, they were awarded a short corner. They did not score from this but were awarded another attempt from which Laura Armstrong put away for a deserved equaliser. This was an excellent result having been a goal down with only a matter of minutes left.
