WET and blustery weather did not deter 16 Tidy Tavi volunteers in their efforts to maintain the cleanliness of Tavistock’s streets and public spaces last Saturday.
An inevitably limited area was visited, but a large haul of refuse was collected.
Several instances of fly-tipping were encountered again, especially along the A386 on the approaches to Tavistock from Plymouth. Instances of fly-tipping, many of which are beyond the capacity of Tidy Tavi to deal with, can be reported to West Devon Borough Council via www.westdevon.gov.uk/flytipping
A spokesperson for Tidy Tavi said: ‘Special thanks go to those hardy individuals who not only braved the wind and rain, but hauled sacks of wet rubbish about the town for disposal. Even greater thanks go to eight-year-old Robin, the only junior volunteer on this occasion, who cleared the Meadows and the surrounding area with the help of his parents.’
