THE Carlsberg South West Peninsula League season kicks off this Sunday with both the traditional Charity Vase and the Charity Bowl being played at Langsford Park, Tavistock.
The Vase will kick off at 12 noon and the Bowl at 3pm.
The Vase will be contested by last seasons Division One East champions Royal Marines, and Division One West champions Perranporth, while the Bowl will be between league and cup winners Buckland Athletic and cup runners up Bodmin Town. Admission prices, covering both games, will be £4 for adults, with £2 concessions, with a program available for an additional 50 pence. All proceeds will go to the Peninsula League Benevolent Fund.
On Tuesday, August 3, the Lambs visit Callington, in the pre- season, Dave Hicks Memorial Cup, kick off at 6-30pm
The Lambs opening league fixture is on the following Saturday, August 7, when they entertain newly promoted St Austell to Langsford Park, kick-off at 3pm. This is followed by two away games. The following Wednesday the Lambs visit Witheridge, 7.30pm kick off, before visiting Keynsham, Bristol, on Saturday, August 14, in the preliminary qualifying round of the FA Cup.
The club is also holing two attractive social events in the next few weeks. On Saturday, August 7 the Lions Club are holding a Real Ale Day at the Red and Black Club.
This will be followed on Sunday, August 8, by a football club Fun Day which is open to everyone — it includes duck race, penalty shoot out, skittles, bouncy castle, keep ups are among the many attractions. Dave will be pulling a bus full of people in order to raise money for a new children's hospice in St Austell. Please go along and enjoy a family day out.
