FIRE crews from Yelverton and Tavistock were called to incidents in West Devon over the weekend.

Yelverton crew attended a report of a LandRover on fire at Denham Bridge, near Buckland Monachorum, on Sunday at 1.15pm. The crew extinguished a fire in the vehicle's engine using one hosereel jet.

A fire crew from Yelverton also attended premises at Greenbank Terrace, Yelverton, along with a crew from Crownhill, later on Sunday, at 6.44pm, after reports of two women stuck in a lift. The two were released from the lift uninjured.

Two fire engines from Tavistock were sent to Lydford Gorge just after 2pm on Saturday to help an injured woman. On arrival, approximately one mile from the entrance, the crews found her suffering from a head wound .

The crews, along with the ambulance service, moved the casualty onto a stretcher and made their way out from the gorge. She was taken to hospital.
