Duchy Premier League Lamerton 1 Pensilva 3 LAMERTON slumped to a third loss out of three with another home defeat. They looked the better side but Pensilva took the lead from a free kick on the edge of the box when keeper Dan Hayward got a hand to the shot but could only parry it to onrushing Pensilva players. Jack Podmore was the quickest to it and had a simple tap in. Lamerton dominated possession and tried to push forward, but they found little joy from a sturdy, experienced Pensilva defence and failed to get many efforts on goal. Kev Swift was found on the edge of the box with time and space, but he snapped at the shot, blazing over the bar. It stayed 1-0 at half time and Lamerton came out bright again for the second half. They eventually got level when Rich Searle?s 20 yard strike clipped the underside of the bar via the keeper?s finger tips. It looked very much as if Lamerton would go on to take the points as Pensilva sat back and invited them on. The excellent Jimmy Cole, marauding down the wing from right back, caused problems and had two good chances on goal ? one over the bar and one producing a good save. Pensilva used the counter attack to their advantage. Tony Rogers went very close hitting a post and when they sprang clear with about ten minutes to go, the home side were caught short and up field and Rogers capitalised to make it 2-1 from six yards. Lamerton shot themselves in the foot conceding another silly free kick on the edge of the box and again it was costly with Marc Tuck whipping it to give Pensilva an excellent 3-1 away victory.
