Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3
Torpoint 0
Lamerton 4
LAMERTON travelled to Torpoint for the first of their evening fixtures and produced one of their best performances of the season.
They started slowly and Pete Daniel made a good save in the first five minutes. But they opened the scoring when a good move down the right, involving Paul Cowling and Zak Beesley, resulted in Paul Breyley crossing the ball and Steve Gibbings sqeezing it home from a narrow angle.
The second goal came when a through ball from Kev Swift, who by this time was running midfield, was picked up by Cowling and he rounded the keeper to score.
The third came when a ball into the area was laid back by Gibbings for Paul Breyley to strike into the top corner.
The icing on the cake came when a great run down the right from Tim Lyle resulted in a Cowling tap in for his second goal.
It was good to see the side getting back to some form with many fixtures looming in the next few weeks and much still to play for.
Lamerton 2
Lanivet 1
LANIVET were the visitors on Saturday with Lamerton having to play them twice before the end of the season and, despite their relatively lowly league position, they attacked from the start.
A defensive mix-up saw the visitors take the lead when Gareth King beat Pete Daniel from close range and they were the better side in the first half with striker Dan Hoskin casing problems for Lamerton.
The equaliser came just before half-time when Paul Breyley hit a screamer from the edge of the box which flew into the top corner of the net.
The second half saw Lamerton get more into the game and they were unlucky when a Simon Breyley header was cleared off the line. The winner came with about a quarter of an hour left when Tony Jones charged down two attempted clearances and squared the ball for sub Steve Wickett, making his home comeback after injury, to score from a narrow angle.
This Saturday, home to Harlyn, 2.30pm kick off.
