THE Lambs kept their unbeaten run with this draw at The Mill. The game was played at a fast pace on a wet surface and throughout defences dominated and both keepers were rarely troubled.

Chris Gott shot over for the Lambs on 20 minutes and Mark Wall did similar seven minutes prior to the interval after John Gosling and George Pitts combined to set him up.

The second half was not much better but Wall forced keeper Henderson to dive low and spill the shot before it was cleared. It looked 0 - 0 all the way with Pitts and substitute John Nichols shooting straight at the keeper and right on full time a Tavistock corner was half cleared to Craig Hodge on the edge of the area but his low drive went a foot wide of the post.

A lot of good football played by both sides but the Lambs will be disappointed in not getting all three points.

Team, Andy Meeds, Lee Beer, Steve Nicholson ( sub John Nichols 57m), Andy Parnowski, Craig Hodge, Darren Babb, Chris Gott, Tony Cusack, John Gosling(sub Steve Daymond 52m), Mark Wall, George Pitts. sub not used Adrian Payne.

THE Lambs had no answer to their younger and fitter opponents as Luis Escabar gave them a two goal cushion before Dave Symons pulled one back with a powerful near-post header.

A late strike by Joel Pearson killed any hopes of the Lambs getting something from the game and the students were full value for their victory and their quest for the title.

THE Lambs unbeaten run finally came to an end with this unexpected defeat against lowly Launceston.

But they had only themselves to blame as their opponents were the more lively in the first 15 minutes and they paid the penalty. Craig Hodge's poor pass out of defence allowed Alan Yendall to slip the ball to Shane Hooper and his first time shot flew into the net off the post after six minutes.

Hooper grabbed his second four minutes later as he was sent clear down the wing to come inside and send in a shot at Andy Meeds.

It looked as though the keeper had saved it at the foot of the post but the assistant referee ruled the ball had crossed the line.

The Lambs put the pressure on for the remainder of the half with John Gosling turning in the area to shoot over on 20 minutes and then saw keeper Jenkins save his shot.

Meeds prevented the Clarets going further ahead on the half hour and Liam Tilley could have added to their score but shot wide when clean through.

The Lambs reduced the arrears with seven minutes of the half remaining when Darren Babb's long clearance found Chris Gott to work his way in the area and unselfishly square the ball for Lee Beer to tap in from six yards.

The second half saw the Lambs apply the pressure and kept the Clarets pinned back but could not get the vital second goal.

But they have the chance for early revenge when they play the return fixture at Launceston this Saturday (May 12) with a 11-30am K O.
