Tavistock AFC 3
TAVISTOCK's fine away form continues, with a thoroughly deserved victory at Penzance — this was the hosts first home league defeat since the end of August.
The home side started well, with a Johnny Ludlams free kick, from just outside the penalty area bringing a brilliant save by Andy Meeds. This stirred the visitors into action and they took control after this early scare.
The Lambs produced some quality football, passing the ball with accuracy and the movement of the players off the ball was excellent. This saw them dominate possession, and create chances to open the scoring.
In the 14th minute a Ben Davis cross for Tavistock found Mike Landricombe, his diving header flashed just wide of the post with the Andy Butcher in the home goal well beaten.
The Lambs continued to pressure the home defence and forced a total of nine corner kicks in the first half. Will Stringer headed over, Mike Landricombe had an effort ruled out for offside. It was Matt David's turn next when he went close from eight yards out. Glyn Hobbs then had a shot brilliantly blocked on the line by home centre back Mamsy Sabo.
On the half hour the Lambs deservedly took the lead when Glyn Hobbs brought a through ball from Matt David under control, and calmly placed his shot from 18 yards past the advancing keeper. Tavistock continued to press and had further chances to increase their lead.
On the stroke of half time in a rare raid on the Lambs goal, Ross Pope's first time effort was turned away for a corner by Meeds. From the corner kick Gerran James' header appeared to have crossed the line, but the linesman waved play on. Penzance skipper Mark Vercesi, who had already been booked, received a second yellow card for disputing the decision, and was sent off for dissent.
Once again with their dominance the Lambs should have had more than a single goal lead at the interval.
Within two minutes of the restart the Lambs increased their lead when Glyn Hobbs was pulled down in the penalty area. Will Stringer calmly slotted home the penalty kick. Although the Lambs took their foot off the gas, they were always in control.
The home side's ten men really deserve some credit, as they did put in a great effort to keep the score line respectable.
The Lambs ensured victory in the 83rd minute with some fine attacking play, when substitute Mark Conday's fine run, and through ball found Glyn Hobbs, he then picked out Adam Carter who drilled the ball pass Andy Butcher from 14 yards.
Eight straight wins moves the Lambs up to third position in the league table and keeps the pressure on the top teams. It is important that we maintain our form from now until the end of the season.

THE Lambs entertained Wadebridge in mid week and ran out comfortable winners.
Although not at their best they proved too strong for a Wadebridge side, which has improved significantly over the past few months.
The Lambs opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when a fine pass and move between Shane Krac and Glyn Hobbs, resulting in Krac squaring the ball across the goal for Mark Conday to net from eight yards..
The Lambs missed further opportunities to increase their lead, but only had a single goal lead at the interval.
The second period saw the Lambs playing well within themselves but far from their best.
Wadebidge rarely threatened the home goal and it was no surprise when Tavistock increased their lead in the 68th minute when the Lambs were awarded a free kick some 30 yards fro goal. Lee Blatchford hit an unstoppable shot which hit the back of the net before the Wadebridge keeper could move. A truly magnificent strike to ensure victory.
