Carlsberg South Western League Penryn 2 Tavistock 1 THE Lambs welcomed back Glynn Hobbs and Mark Conday after lengthy suspensions, Nigel Pugh from injury and were missing the services of Kevin Parker through work commitments and the injured Mike Arscott. The home side had the better of the opening exchanges with Steve Rowson blasting over when well placed. They thought they had taken the lead on 12 minutes when Andy Meeds parried Mike Cain?s shot for it to fall at the feet of Dale Band to follow up but fortunately for the Lambs he was offside. The home side were content in getting the Lambs attack offside but on 17 minutes Conday foiled the trap to go on and round keeper Chris Simmonds to score. The Lambs then had a great chance to go further ahead as Hobbs surged forward down the left before passing into the path of Conday, only to see the ball cleared. Andy Meeds then made a great save from a Lee Bradd effort and Conday then got down the wing to send in a cross that just lacked a touch. The home side came back into the game with a disputed free kick five minutes before the interval. Penryn?s Darren Halsey?s effort went behind for a corner and from Rowson?s cross Mike Cain headed home unchallenged at the far post. The home side then went ahead on the hour when from a free kick, which was taken 10 metres up the field from the incident, a Cain cross was headed home by Rowson. Penryn?s Matt Drummond saw his effort come back off a post on 70 minutes and Hobbs did well to get down the wing to send in a low cross that was cleared for a corner. The home side saw another effort come back off a post with Rowson being the unlucky one but they had done enough to get the victory against a rather poor performing Lambs side.
