MANAGER Steve Hart had to juggle his side for the visit of in-form Falmouth. With Lee Cansfield and Andy Wright both unavailable George Pitts found himself leading the attack on his own and hoping for support from midfield in the shape of Chris Gott and Tony Cusack. After Thursday's game against Argyle, groundsman Ken Wood had got the playing surface back into good shape.
It was a tentative first 25 minutes but John Gosling shot at keeper Sid Taylor and Jason Cowardine saw his cross bounce on the top of Andy Meeds' crossbar.
The Lambs then went through a dodgy ten minutes. Meeds slipped when coming out to gather the ball and when it went loose it was turned across the Lambs goal.
Gott put in two crosses in quick succession to put the Shipbuilders under pressure and with six minutes remaining were awarded a penalty. A high through-ball saw Ian Stephens flick a hand up and referee's assistant Mr Hughes flagged for the infringement. Lee Beer's long run up to take the kick saw him shoot low but it went the wrong side of the post.
The Lambs had another chance when the hard working Pitts got to the byline to send in a low cross. Taylor got a hand to it, the ball rolled loose and Gott lunged but could not send it into the net.
Tavistock made a good start to the second half with Darren Babb heading over from a Gosling corner. The front trio of Pitts, Gott and Cusack combined on the hour with the latter just failing to get Pitts' low cross into the area.
The last 15 minutes saw the visitors go all out for the winner but the Lambs defence held firm to secure a worthy point.
The penalty miss proved crucial but the Lambs can be happy with a point against a team who have remained unbeaten for 11 games.
