Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 5 Callington 1 IN front of the largest crowd for the season on Wednesday (February 10) the Lambs recorded their first home win in an emphatic way. Former Lambs player Dave Hallett from Tiverton/Bideford was included on the bench alongside Lamerton?s Paul Cowling. The game got off to a cracking start with Callington opening the scoring on 20 minutes when Charlie Blair finished off a fine move down the right to smash home from 20 yards. But celebrations were short lived with the Lambs equalising within a minute. Paul Adcock was adjudged to have been fouled in the area. Mark Conday?s fierce spot kick hit the crossbar and flew high into the air and when it finally dropped Will Westlake reacted to steer it home from close range. Two minutes later the Lambs were ahead. James Steer was fouled just inside the Callington half and keeper Jamie Harrison under pressure from Darren Edwards fumbled for Edwards to get the final touch as the ball went over the line. The Lambs then increased their lead on the half hour as a cross came in for Adcock to finish. Gosling had already been cautioned earlier on and a rather unnecessary obstruction saw him get his second yellow. However this set back did not deter the Lambs as they continued to attack. Adcock was unlucky just prior to the interval when he attempted to chip Harrison, but the keeper got a touch to the ball and when it rebounded to him he shot wide. But on the stroke of half time, after some slick passing, Adcock found himself in a similar position and this time made no mistake with the ball going over the keeper into the empty net. The second half seemed to have fizzled out with not a great deal of action apart from Alan Yendall having to clear off the line from James Gorst on the hour. The Lambs had the ball in the net with just 15 minutes remaining but it was ruled out for offside. The Lambs finished off a good evening?s work with five minutes remaining as they poured forward for Adcock to get his hat trick and their fifth. The three points gained gets them up near their fellow strugglers as the battle to avoid seeking re-election hots up.
