TAVISTOCK will be ecstatic with this well deserved win which was a fiery contest at Blaise Park.

The visitors got off to a flyer when Mark Conday played a ball through to Lee Coxon who slotted home for an early lead on the fourth minute.

Tavistock continued to run the play, but both sides seemed a little unsettled and challenges were flying in which wound up both sets of players.

Tavistock's defence held well and their forwards had the chances to put them further ahead.

Mark Conday had a good chance on the 20th minute when he tried to lob the Blazey keeper but the ball just sailed over the bar.

Tavistock then had a free kick on the far side. The ball was played in and Captain Will Stringer got a powerful head on it but the keeper just managed to squander it, though there were many protests saying the ball had crossed the line.

St Blazey did not create much at all and their only chance of the first half was easily saved by keeper Andy Meads.

Tavistock bossed the last five minutes of the first half with Ryan Honey having a decent effort on goal.

The second half shown Blazey's determination to get back in this game but Tavistock weren't going to give up the points that easily.

The game was played at a high tempo with both sides running their socks off.

The Tavistock defence were holding well though and stopped any attack coming their way.

However, St Blazey earned a vital corner on the 65th minute. The corner was swung in and was failed to be cleared and St Blazey capitalised to make it 1-1.

Tavistock were only looking for a win and came back four minutes later with a goal of their own.

Dave Hallet won Tavistock a corner kick, Lee Bevan swung it in and it was flicked on into the goal by by substitute Mike Southgate.

In the 75th minute an unmarked Dave Hallet was found just inside the box, his shot almost breaking the back of the net left the St Blazey keeper stranded.

St Blazey tried to claw their way back into the game but their shots were flying high and wide and Tavistock had finished them off for a deserved three points.

Tavistock AFC play an important match on Saturday when they entertain Western Premier League side Wellington in the FA Vase, kick off 3pm.

The Lambs are hoping for good support to help them progress to the next round.
