Carlsberg South Western League Torpoint 5 Tavistock 2 THE Lambs were quickly brought back to earth after last week?s first victory of the season against Plymouth Parkway as Torpoint swept them aside with four goals in the first half with no reply. Andy Meeds saved from Brian Stacey after seven minutes and Mark Southern volleyed wide from a corner before the Lambs were unlucky not to have opened the scoring on 15 minutes when Daniel Fadida?s free kick bounced back off the crossbar with Ellis Glassup well beaten. Ten minutes later the home side went ahead as Stacey met Kevin Francis?s free kick on the volley to give Meeds no chance. Lee Cameron looked offside as he gathered the ball to go down the wing and send in a cross for Gary Bridgeman to get on the end of it to put the home side 2 up. A bizarre and very controversial third goal came seven minutes prior to half time when Torpoint were caught offside. Darren Halfyard rolled the ball towards Alan Yendall for him to take the free kick and Stacey intercepted. The referee allowed play to continue for Stacey to stride on and place the ball past Meeds. Glassup then prevented the Lambs from scoring as he saved from Will Westlake, Fadida and a point blank effort from Mark Conday before the home struck again on the stroke of half time. Again a questionable offside as the ball was headed on for Stacey to go on and complete his hat trick. It was definitely Torpoint?s first half but the Lambs had the better of the second. Fadida crossed low and despite Glassup saving he could not prevent Conday slotting the ball home. Torpoint regained their four goal cushion 10 minutes later with the Lambs? defence all at sea for Stacey to accept Tony Biddle?s pass. The Lambs took control from then on with Westlake going close after a fine run into the area before they got their second with 5 minutes remaining. Conday?s effort was blocked by Glassup but Craig Hodge was on hand to follow up and slot home from close range. A very disappointing display and result after the previous week. Controversial decisions, bad luck and good goalkeeping all went against the Lambs.
