Tavistock AFC 1

Torpoint 0

IT took only 40 seconds for Torpoint to smash the crossbar from a free kick. Tavistock looked very shaky for the first ten minutes but found their rhythm throughout the first half.

The Lambs started to attack well with Dan Pethick running the right flank excellently and Shane Krac controlling the middle of the park. Challenges were flying in and Ryan Honey went down injured. But Honey got back up and almost assisted the opener when he put the ball into Dan Pethick who shot over the bar.

The breakthrough came on the 43rd minute when Lee Bevan swung in a corner for Will Stringer to get on the end of and he headed past the keeper. Torpoint were furious with this decision though as they didn't believe the ball had crossed the line. The referee had a chat with his linesman and the goal stood.

The frustration shown a little bit from Torpoint when their striker was cautioned for a silly challenge on keeper Andy Meads. Tavistock went in at half time one up after playing some good attractive football.

The second half Tavistock had to defend well against a Torpoint team, looking for that equaliser. Torpoint should have made it 1-1 after 20 minutes. Torpoint's substitute Lewis Kershaw found himself in space but shot just wide of the post. It almost seemed harder to miss and Tavistock were lucky that they still had the lead. Torpoint were shooting high and wide and the frustration was building up.

On the fourth minute of added time Torpoint won a free kick, with Shane Krac getting himself in the referee's book. Torpoint pushed everyone up but Tavistock did well to clear it and the ref blew for full time. Tavistock had played a very good game and should be proud of their recent performances.

l Tavistock's next game is at home to Buckland Athletic kick off 3pm on Saturday.
