ROADFORD Lake is progressing well with the new look restaurant scheduled to re-open for the late May Bank Holiday.

James Platts, project manager for environmental and recreation charity South West Lakes Trust, which is responsible for the project, said ?Tenders for the construction of a new function room and interpretation centre are being invited in the very near future.?

John Hart Design have already been selected to design the content of the new visitor centre and will be working closely with the trust?s education officer, Jo Simpson and James to deliver exciting exhibits for people of all ages to enjoy.

Jo Simpson, the new heritage education officer, will be contacting local people and groups and working on an oral history of the area to bring the past alive. In addition she will be setting up a variety of training courses later in the year.

Jo, who is originally from Barnstaple in Devon, has a BA in Archaeology and joins the Trust from Devon County Council?s Archaeology section.
