Pupils at Lady Modiford’s School at Walkhampton performed an operetta ‘The Vicar’s Cross’ before the end of term. The school commissioned award-winning West Devon composer Andrew Wilson to write an operetta for the children on the theme of life in Walkhampton over the centuries. The result was a lively, comic story based on a local folk tale and scenes from the school and village’s past, all told in music, drama and dancing. This year the school has celebrated its 300th anniversary. Picture by James Bird
