CONGRATULATIONS go to Okehampton Tennis Club?s Ladies A team who have completed another successful season. The squad of Angela Herrod-Taylor, Julia Moysey, Jackie Jarvis and Beth Carter have won division 3 of the Exeter and District Tennis League without losing a match. An early season draw against Bovey Tracey has been followed with eleven straight wins, culminating in a convincing 8-1 home victory against local rivals Crediton last week. Over the past two years the ladies have won division 3 and 4 of the league in successive seasons and will be returning to division 2 for the first time in four years. This year?s winning team members are looking forward to next year?s challenge and hope to continue their successful run. Okehampton men?s A team with one match to go are also hoping for back-to-back promotion. This is dependent on results in matches between their nearest rivals, but a convincing win in their last match will help their chances. For the first time in two years Okehampton has been able to enter men?s and ladies? B teams in the league. Both teams are now close to completing their matches for the year. The club continues to play regularly on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons on the floodlit courts next to Okehampton all-weather pitch. Additional sessions are held for juniors and ladies tennis. New players are always welcome, both to play social and competitive tennis. More information can be obtained from chairman David Carter on 840521 or from club captain Paul Chastey at Chastey?s She Shop. The club thanks all its many sponsors and supporters and looks forward to building on this year?s success.
