Bovey Tracey ladies v

Whitchurch Wayfarer Ladies

WHITCHURCH ladies travelled to Bovey Tracey Cricket Club on Sunday, which just happened to be the same day and finish point of the Bovey Tracey half marathon. This caused a few problems as the race officials kept directing the ladies away from the venue.

Whitchurch fielded first and made short work of dismissing the home team. With accurate catching and throwing players were caught and run out quickly and bowlers Jo Birkett, Cathy Griffen and Angela Hunt each took wickets.

With only 78 runs needed to win and two injured players, Whitchurch changed the batting order and Rebecca Snowball opened for the first time, partnered by Kirsty Gray. What looked like an easy task at the start turned into a laborious slog with few runs available and some losses for Whitchurch.

At 50-7, Angela Hunt, despite a broken finger, entered the fray and between them she and Cathy Griffen came through to help Whitchurch to their third win in a row to retain their unbeaten record this season.
