WEDNESDAY?s visit by the president of Devon County Bowling Association?s select team, resulted in a narrow win 118-116 for the president?s men.

Tavistock managed to win three of the six rinks with skip Mike Allen and his team of Norman Paramor, Brian Ellicott and David Perry winning 28-11, while skip Eric Stevens led his squad of Ron Cooper, Roger Bawden and Brian Preece to a 22-19 victory.

Skip Roy Northam and his team of Tony Coombs, Walter Meek and Ernie Piper won 28-18, but skips Der Saunders 8-29, Malcolm Bloomer 17-21 and John Smith 13-20, all lost.

Tuesday saw a Tavistock men?s team facing Yelverton in a County Trophy match which ended in a 99-53 victory for Tavistock.

Skip Mike Allen led his team to a 23-12 win, while skip Eric Stevens won 28-18. Roy Northam?s team achieved a 22-17 winning margin and skip Malcolm Bloomer led his squad to a 26-16 victory.

Saturday?s mixed match at Bideford resulted in the men losing on all three of their rinks and the ladies winning on one of their two and losing on the other.

Skip Mike Allen saw his team lose 18-20, while skip Rob Bowhay lost 18-21 and skip Der Saunders saw his squad go down 13-28.

The ladies? rink, skipped by Gill Saunders, won their match, but skip Betty Browse saw her team lose.

Wednesday?s visit by the Gloucester Ladies? Vice President?s team saw a guest rink from Bere Alston playing alongside two Tavistock rinks in a match which saw the Bere Alston rink win 23-14 and the Tavistock Ladies win one rink and lose the other.

Skip Marion Allen won 33-15 and skip Betty Browse saw her squad lose 15-24.

Tuesday saw two rinks of ladies travel to Crediton to face Phear Park in the Inter-club competition. Tavistock won both rinks with skip Marion Allen and her team winning 19-17 and skip Jill Lacayo and her squad winning 24-15.

The ladies now progress to face a Taunton team on a neutral green at Hatherleigh.

The ladies? league fixture against Yealmpton on Thursday ended in a 46-32 win for Tavistock when skip Marion Allen?s team won 25-15 and skip Betty Browse led her team to a 23-17 victory.

The ladies? away fixture at Buckfastleigh on Friday ended with skip Marion Allen and her squad winning 23-11 and skip Betty Browse losing 11-21, giving Tavistock a one-shot overall victory.
