Tavistock Ladies AFC 6
Dynamon Torquay 4
TAVISTOCK Ladies AFC kept pressure on the away team in their emphatic win against Dynamo Torquay this Sunday.
Their striking duo of Sarah Blowey and Donna Weeks blossomed; working perfectly together and maintaining their role as consistent providers of goals.
Tavistock were strong from the start with Blowey opening the scoring with two fast goals within the first few minutes.
Torquay battled to stay in the game. However, an excellent ball crossed from defender Robyn Hammond curved in perfectly to meet with Weeks who confidently placed it in the net. This was swiftly followed up with a second goal from Weeks, fed in from Blowey.
Torquay managed to break away, stirring up the Tavistock defence and rapidly pulled back two goals. However, their optimism was soon crushed as Blowey finished off the half time score at 5-2.
Torquay came back fighting with a more surging spirit, and although the majority of the action had previously been one-way traffic, Tavistock only managed one goal in the second half with Torquay causing a stir as they pulled back another rapid two goals in the final minutes.
This was a superb team effort from the Tavistock ladies resulting in a well deserved win securing their second place in the league, equalling points at the top with Totnes.
