Tavistock ladies first 4

Kingsbridge and Salcombe 1

TAVISTOCK started their league season at home with a win. The home side started hesitantly and Kingsbridge made some good attacking runs but the strong defence of Boulle, Dunn and Katy Cuckston making her debut for Tavistock, held firm.

The home side soon got into their stride with some good linking play broke down the oppositions defence.

Tavistock opened the scoring with a well struck ball from the edge of the D by Georgina Killingbeck. Tavistock kept the pressure on and again some good linking play between debutant Hannah Colston and Becky Lamb allowed Becky to run the ball to the back line and score a superb goal from an acute angle.

The home side were awarded numerous penalty corners but were unlucky not to convert any of them. The third goal was scored by Sarah McClumpha with a great reverse stick shot. Tavistock were feeling confident and with the mid-field playing high, the Kingsbridge made a break and were able to score.

Tavistock re-grouped and kept a closer link between midfield and defence. The fourth goal was scored by Laura Armstrong from the top of the D. Tavistock had a poorer second half with the good passing play from the first half disappearing.

Kingsbridge came back to put together some good attacking play but the midfield and defence of the home side kept the ball out of their goal.

The second half ended without any further goals but Tavistock were pleased with their overall performance.
