Tavistock Ladies Second 4
Mannamead Ladies IV 1
FOLLOWING on from their impressive victory last week, Tavistock ladies seconds entertained Mannamead in a vital league match.
From the whistle Tavistock's early dominance reaped little reward, due to loose passing and scrappy challenges, coupled with Mannamead's tenacious defence. It was not long before Tavistock started putting together some quick passes and eventually got their reward, a short corner saw Kate Eadie rattle the back board from the top of the D.
Tavistock's second goal arrived when Huntington-Whitely collected a rebound to slot it past the keeper. The visitors fought back well and despite some strong defending from Horton and Passmore, managed to pull a goal back as half time loomed.
Tavistock came out for the second half looking to put the game out of Mannamead's grasp. Some good clearances by Pollock and strong tackling by Mills-Hicks kept Tavistock on the front foot. A good run up the pitch by Martin provided a good cross for Firth to slot past the keeper for Tavistock's third goal.
Evans and Viggers broke many attacks up the flanks, passing quickly back to the forwards, this resulted in Smallacombe getting the fourth goal with some clever stick work, finishing it off by slotting between the keeper's legs.
In the closing stages the home side held off the Mannamead attack with some good defending and some good saves from keeper Grinstead.
This well earned victory kept Tavistock Ladies Seconds at the top of the table.
