TAVISTOCK ladies CFC played on Langsford Park for the first time this season. The match started badly for them and Plymouth were one up four minutes after kick off when their fast striker ran through the whole of the defence.

Tavistock found their feet and soon started to build on moves. Defenders Coker, Hammond and Philip chased and battled well but when Hammond cleared the ball it hit an oncoming striker and rebounded into the net. Shortly before half time Gordon passed to Hone who crossed for Weeks to head home. With seconds remaining another breakaway goal for university ladies to make it 3-1 at half time.

The second half saw Becky Gordon run at the defence, pass one defender and toe poke the ball past the keeper. Tavistock could not take advantage of this comeback despite Jones and Hone on the wings keeping moves upfield. Kelly was tremendous midfield and put in some terrific challenges. Despite another goal for Plymouth Lauren in the Tavistock goal made some terrific saves but Plymouth scored a screamer into the roof of the net to make it 5-2.

Gordon again put Tavistock back in play and scored with a low hard shot underneath the keeper. Plymouth had an attempt cleared off the line by Laura Philip. Plymouth scored again a few minutes later and although Tavistock continued to battle with Gordon getting her hat trick The Ladies went down 9-4 to the visitors.

Tavistock ladies train on Tuesdays at 7pm to 8pm on the college all weather pitch. If anyone is interested in joining them, just turn up on the night.
