Tavistock Community Football Club Ladies 1

Exeter and Tedburn Rangers 1

FROM the kick-off play went from end to end and Tavistock started to gain confidence.

Blowey for Tavistock at right wing made some superb runs and Weeks and Gordon up front battled hard to get shots off but ex-Tavistock keeper Rosie Maguire was solid.

Hammond and Kelly linked up well in midfield for Tavistock and Cox, Coker, player of the match Glasspoole and Webber worked hard and for a good 20 minutes most of the play was with them. Tavistock broke, again down the wing with Blowey, and a loose ball was latched onto by Jones who flipped a curling ball into the back of the net. Gordon and Coker both took hard knocks shortly before half time but Hurley was there to prop up midfield when Hammond dropped back.

Saves by Tavistock keeper Stock at the feet of a fast striker another tipping the ball over the crossbar just before half time maintained Tavistock's lead as they went into half-time.

The second half started with Exeter having most of the play and they equalised after Tavistock failed to clear a cross. A long ball from midfield found Tavistock's Blowey one on one with the keeper but a great save thwarted her efforts. Great saves from Stock also kept Exeter out. Glasspoole ran her socks off and when the final whistle went it was greeted with some relief.

l Tavistock Ladies are away to Plainmoor Ladies on Sunday.
