Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 4

Paignton 2nd XI 0

THIS league game opened with Tavistock making space with Sarah Barratt, Emma White and Lisa Butler playing some good hockey on the right.

This trio were extremely strong in their possession of the ball and Barratt took the ball into the ?D? for Jo Gaspar to get some shots on goal. These shots were rebounded and at first the far reach of Laura Armstrong was not enough to secure the ball.

Tavistock knew that they should be putting numerous goals past the keeper and despite having short corners awarded to them, they were unable to find the back of the net.

A good lead run from White allowed the ball to be sent into the ?D? and Boulle was goal hungry. This resulted in the first goal of the match being scored. Tavistock were starting to improve the quality of their game and Dunn, Butler and Stapleton worked well to switch the ball around the pitch. With Boulle making some excellent interceptions, the attacking play was always with Tavistock until the half-time whistle blew.

The second half saw a much better passing game from Tavistock. Julia Firth worked with Boulle and Armstrong and this enabled more balls being worked into the ?D?. Barratt continued to play well and this resulted in her scoring an excellent second goal.

Tavistock now had more of their spark back. Dunn intercepted the ball and fed it to Barratt who switched it to Gaspar. With Dunn supporting both of these two players the triangle was made. Gaspar heard a good call from Armstrong who got on the end of the ball and went around the keeper to score the third goal. Tavistock were playing much better and with White and Boulle working hard to give as many shots on goal to Armstrong and Gaspar it was difficult for Paignton to clear the ball. Honey had a few shots on goal and was really determined to make her mark on the game, which she did much to the team?s advantage. Armstrong scored the last goal of the match from a good pick up of the ball in the ?D?.

This week Tavistock are away at Bodmin Leisure Centre at 12.30pm playing Bodmin.

Player of The Match: Laura Armstrong.
