BELSTONE Ladies Club celebrates its 20th birthday this year, by continuing to raise money for charity through a series of events. Twenty-four people were at the club?s first meeting at The Barton, Belstone, with most going on to become members. Five of these are still members, one of whom will be 92 in March while others are in their 80s. The club holds four fundraising events a year: a ploughman?s lunch, a coffee morning, a cream tea day and in the autumn, anything from a bingo to a Christmas bazaar. It has raised more than £25,000 for many different charities. This year donations will go towards post-tsunami relief for children, ShelterBoxes, buildings funds for a new children?s hospice and Okehampton Ring and Ride funds.
