Tavistock Ladies' Firsts 0

Plymouth Thirds 1

TAVISTOCK ladies' first hockey team were disappointed at losing after beating Plymouth thirds earlier in the season and being unable to claim the points.

The game started with Plymouth having most of the attacking play. Tavistock slowly began to work the ball out of their half and apply pressure on the Plymouth goal. Sue Cork and Steph Mills put in some good crosses but Tavistock are still failing to connect with them.

Tavistock were awarded a couple of penalty corners, but again were unable to capitalise on them. Tavistock did some good passing but at times accuracy was lacking and Plymouth took advantage of it.

Both teams came out in the second half with more determination to get a goal. The Tavistock forwards stopped many of Plymouth's hit-outs and so were able to get the ball back quickly into the opposition's D. Despite this good work Tavistock could not get the ball in the back of the net.

Plymouth were awarded three penalty corners in a row and it was from the last one that they scored. A fine strike by Philippa Davey went in just inside the post.

This motivated Tavistock even more to get a goal back. The ball was moved up the pitch with some good linking passes but the finishing touch eluded them. The game ended with no further score.

Tavistock resume league action after the New Year.
