TEAMS from throughout West Devon and East Cornwall will be battling to lift the trophy this summer at a special It?s a Knockout competition at the country fair organised by the children?s charity CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids).

The charity, based at Dunterton near Milton Abbot, had a phenomenal success with last year?s competition, won by Martin?s Cash and Carry of Launceston. Already 18 teams have entered this year?s event on July 27, to be held at Launceston Rugby Club at Polson Bridge.

The country fair will appeal to even more people this year as CHICKS has decided to support local farmers and hold a farmers? market on the day, selling produce and crafts.

Tracy Izod from CHICKS said: ?We already have several stall bookings and have kept stall fees low to build the event back up again ? registered charities can take a free stall for the day.

Tracy said many excellent stall bookings have been received ? there is also some ?brilliant? entertainment lined up to keep the children happy.

Teams of six to eight people, over the age of 16, are eligible for the fast and furious It?s a Knockout competition ? but entrants will have to hurry as there are limited spaces left.

Tracy said: ?After last year?s event, everyone enjoyed themselves so much that three teams rang me the day after the event to book in their teams for 2003, which was over a year away!?

Anyone who would like to enter a team in the It?s a Knockout competition or book a stall at the farmers? market should call Tracy Izod on 01822 870692 between 9am and 3pm.
