SUMMER fun was provided by an ?It?s a Knock-out? style competition held as part of Farms For City Children?s summer fete at Iddesleigh.

The summer fete was revived last Saturday, more than a decade after it was last held, and proved to be a great success.

The fete took place in the grounds of Nethercott House near Iddesleigh, the operational base for the charity which takes young people from urban areas for week-long residential farm breaks.

Children from Orchard School, Barnstaple, who are currently staying at Nethercott Farn, joined in by running stalls at the fete.

The late afternoon ?It?s a Knock-out? team games were won by a team from Dalton who narrowly beat an Iddesleigh team and three others.

Farms for City Children was established more than 25 years ago and aims to give children from the inner cities the opportunity to spend a week in the countryside getting involved in life on a real working farm.
