A BERE Alston man has been commended for his 'exceptional' service to charity.

Trevor Paddon-Hall was recently awarded the 'Royal Confraternity of Sao Teotonio' in the rank of comendador (commander) by HRH Dom Miguel de Braganza, the Duke of Viseu and Infante of Portugal, who is the fourth in line to the succession of the Royal House of Portugal.

This award was to recognise the hard work Trevor has given through providing aid to Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia and the Middle East for more than 25 years.

Now Trevor and the other men admitted into the confraternity can refer to themselves as 'Irmao Confrade Comendador De Mérito'.

The confraternity is listed in the 'Registro De Ordnes De Caballeria Del Reino De Espana' (the Register of Orders of Knighthoods in the Kingdom of Spain) that is published by the Academia De Genealogia, Nobleza Y Armas Alfonso XIII (The Alfonso XIII Academy for Genealogy, Nobility and Arms) in Madrid, the Kingdom of Spain.
