THERE?s an opportunity for people interested in conservation and archaeology to join in two special events being held at Kit Hill during the next few weeks. Cornwall County Council has arranged archaeology and conservation days in the area on Tuesday, February 16 and Saturday, March 5. Volunteers will be able to carry out gorse bashing, brush burning, fence mending and litter picking, as part of the council?s heathland and archaeological management programme. Chrissie le Marchant, Kit Hill Warden, said: ?These events will be a great chance for people to get out into the countryside and help make substantial improvements to the area. You don?t need to have any experience, as guidance and help will be given ? and it?s a great way to meet new people.? Kit Hill, home to a wide range of flora and fauna, remains the most dominant landscape feature in East Cornwall. Volunteers should bring along suitable footwear, old clothes and refreshments.
