TAVISTOCK Ladies are sitting nicely at the top of their league after a good strong team performance last Sunday against Okehampton.
Okehampton's hopes of taking the lead were dashed within the first five minutes when Kirsty Jones struck the ball home for Tavistock.
Okehampton hit back when an unmarked player found the back of Tavistock's net.
It was a physical match but Tavistock were rewarded with a penalty which Donna Burch coolly slotted away.
Okehampton then caught Tavistock on the break with a stunning goal from Gill Haines, leaving Sarah Blowey no chance.
Okehampton tried to find the feet of Haines again but could not get past the watchful eye of Julie McGowan.
Lisa Curtis went on a solo run to put away a goal, leaving the score at half time 3-2 to Tavistock.
Tavistock dug deep in the second half after losing their captain Julie McGowan through injury.
Jane Sivyer showed excellent skill as did Donna Burch on the wing.
The return of Belinda and Wendy Stephens made a huge difference and they slotted in well.
Gemma Bluett saw Tavistock go further ahead.
The combined efforts of Lisa Curtis, Janie Sivyer, Donna Burch and Louise Evans saw the latter putting Tavistock firmly ahead in a good sound win.
