Exeter University fifths 1
THE young Okehampton team were expecting a hard game on Sunday and were warmed up and ready for the challenge.
The teams were evenly matched from the start with several breaks from Exe putting the Oke defence under pressure.
Oke captain Sarah Jones spread the ball well from the centre of the pitch and when right wing Grace Thorp picked up the ball at speed, she made no mistake in netting the ball for Oke's first goal.
Oke now played with confidence and left wing Katie Graves was unlucky not to add her name to the score sheet. Just before half time centre forward Kim Davey received another Jones pass, cleverly beating her defender to claim Oke's second.
Exeter University began the second half with determination and their penetrating attacking moves were thwarted by strong tackling from Nat Dennis and Brieze Reed.
Okehampton's third goal came from an accurate team passing manouevre which began deep in Oke's half; right half Rachel Laidlaw's pass found Sophie Whiteley in space and she quickly moved the ball onto Sarah Jones, who laid the ball off to Davey, who hammered the ball into the back of the Exe net.
Davey claimed her hat-trick when she fired another ball past the Exe keeper.
Exeter University claimed a consolation goal when Oke conceded a penalty corner in the last few minutes which Exe converted with style.
Oke's player of the match went to Kim Davey.
