A FUNPACKED day for all the family is being organised in Tavistock next month ? which will also raise vital funds for the Children?s Hospice South West and a local sports club. The event is being organised by Tavistock Town FC, whose coaching team are taking on Plymouth Argyle Veterans in a soccer match. Gates at Langsford Park will open at noon on April 9 and the day?s proceedings will begin with soccer action on the pitch featuring Tavistock Town?s junior players ? the main match will take place at 3.30pm. In addition to a feast of football, there will be additional entertainment in the form of stalls, refreshments, a bouncy castle for adults and for children and a penalty shoot out competition. The organisers are also hoping to arrange a visit from the town?s fire and ambulance crews, to provide visitors with an insight of life in the emergency services. Andy Mitchell, a coach with the club and one of the event organisers, said: ?There will be plenty of things going on during the day ? we are hoping if the people of the area support us we could make this an annual event. ?They will be helping not only an important charity like the children?s hospice but a local community club too.? Andy said entrance on the day will cost £5 for a family of four or £3.50 for an individual. This will also include entry to a free raffle ? with plenty of good prizes to be won. ?The top prize is a Manchester United football, signed by all the players. There are meals for two in a restaurant, a hotel break, Theatre Royal tickets, Aquarium tickets, tickets to Trethorne Leisure Park ? there are loads of really good prizes,? said Andy, who hoped plenty of people would turn up to enjoy a good afternoon of sport in aid of two good causes.
