Kelly College 24
Newquay Tretherras School 15
FROM the outset Newquay were determined to win the game, and with four of their players playing for the Newquay Hornets RFC first XV, the streetwise approach to their rugby was evident.
However, they conceded a penalty to full back, James Falvey, early on, before crossing the Kelly line soon after, to take the score to 3-5 to the away team.
Kelly then started to play more constructive rugby and put passages of play together to score a well worked try through Ollie Massy-Birch for James Falvey to convert and a 10-5 lead at the interval.
Immediately after the break Ollie Massy-Birch scored again under the posts and extended to lead to 17-5 to the home team.
Kelly then stepped off the gas and let Newquay in for two easy tries to bring the game into balance once again, at 15-17. With a comfortable last ten minutes Kelly camped on Newquay's line and centre Benn Neal scored again for James Falvey to convert to finish the scoring at 24 -15.
