THE second round of the Speedo League Division 3 was held at Bristol North Baths, a 25 yard pool, on Saturday — Kelly College, after their convincing victory in the first round, were drawn against Bristol Henleaze, Oddicombe, Newton Abbot and Backwell.
The open individual medley for women always starts the programme and team captain Samantha Calcutt set the ball rolling with a win. Not to be outdone, the boys' team captain, Robert Pratt, also produced a win in the men's individual medley. Eight relay events followed next and Kelly really set the pace by achieving one second place and seven first places.
Good swims were the order of the day with first places being achieved by Whitney Bowring (2), Joshua Lake, Beth Campbell-Bosely, Sarah Thomas (2), Samantha Calcutt (2), Robert Pratt (2), Matthew Henry (2), Nye Levett, Will Cummings, Peter Freedman, Thomas Howe, Elaine Reyes, Jemma Coates, Rachel Banfield, Russell Page Dove, Jack Williams, Jenny Onyon, and Matthew Slator.
The final eight relays again produced some excellent swims with Kelly again coming second in one and first in the other seven, but unfortunately with one disqualification for an illegal take-over. Altogether, Kelly achieved 37 first places.
Kelly College finished up runaway winners with 226 points with runner-ups Bristol Henleaze on 152.
The final is to be held on December 1 at Kingswood Leisure Centre, Soundwell, Bristol, where Kelly will be taking on Taunton Deane A, Barnstaple, City of Cardiff B, Neath and Port Talbot and Bristol Henleaze.
